Create a RuleLast Updated: September 16, 2019
Rules are the individual pieces of a commission Plan. A Rule is made up of several parts; these parts are a Formula, a Scope, and a Rule Name.
- The Formula for a Rule is calculated in the same way as for a Variable (Field). You can reference Variables (Fields), Scopes, Conditions, Tables, and numbers within the Formula as well as use any of Spiff's many Excel-like functions. You will see the results of a Rule on an individual rep's commission page when looking at that Plan.
- The Scope for a Rule is a filter that narrows the data that is passed into a Rule. The Rule will only consider information which meets each Condition inside its Scope. Rules do not necessarily need to have a Scope as you will often create Scopes for the Fields that are used in a Rule's formula.
- A Rule Name will be the way to reference a Rule when constructing a Plan; it will also show up on an individual rep's commission page when looking at that Plan.
