The word allocation is used with the marginal_payout function, often to build Accelerators.

For the marginal_payout function to calculate correctly, Spiff requires that the word “allocation” appear next to each expression in the return column ("Rate" in the example table). By having this word present, the function is able to distribute the input value across the tiers of a Range Table into tier-specific amounts then apply a formula (if it exists) in the return column in the Range Table to each distribution quantity (allocation).
